Faculty Learning Communities

What are Faculty Learning Communities?

The Teaching & Learning Center is relaunching the Faculty Learning Community (FLC) program in Fall 2025!

An FLC is a cross-disciplinary group of 6-15 faculty and staff members that engages in an academic year long collaborative program aimed at enhancing teaching and learning and community-building at 麻豆精品. In this first year of the relaunch, the TLC solicits proposals from those who would like to be considered to serve as the lead facilitator for a topic-based FLC.

The lead facilitator of an FLC will:

  • Propose a need, issue, or opportunity to be the topical focus of the FLC, along with a rationale for this topic.
  • Take the lead in the development of an FLC curriculum on the proposed topic.
  • Take the lead in recruiting other members of the FLC.
  • Take the lead in developing a meeting plan for the group.
  • Assist in TLC assessment of the FLC program.

  The TLC will:

  • Select a lead facilitator from the pool of submitted proposals.
  • Provide support in all of the above areas.
  • Assess the FLC program.
  • Assist in the development of programming and other supports as recommended by members of the FLC; and
  • Pay the lead facilitator a stipend of $2,000 over the course of the academic year ($500 summer, $750 fall, $750 spring).

  Proposed FLC timeline:

  • Spring 2025: proposal submission and facilitator selection
  • Summer 2025: curriculum development and member recruitment
  • Fall-Spring 2025: regular meetings and assessment
  • Spring 2025: wrap-up and final report submission
